Complete guide: what is an invisible character?
An invisible character (also called blank text or hidden Unicode) is different from a normal space (U+0020). Normal spaces are trimmed by messaging apps such as WhatsApp and Telegram and by form validators.
The most widely used one is the Hangul Filler (U+3164), along with Braille Pattern Blank (U+2800) and Zero-Width Space (U+200B). Software treats them as real, valid characters that simply have no visible glyph, so they render as transparent space.
Popular practical uses
- Blank WhatsApp & Telegram messages: get past the empty-message check and send a truly blank bubble.
- Invisible names in games: nameless tags in PUBG Mobile, Fortnite, Among Us and Steam.
- Discord & social bios: invisible nicknames and clean multi-line spacing in Instagram and TikTok bios without dots.
- Required inputs: fill mandatory text fields without showing any visible characters.
